• Building a VAT Drain Stand: A vat drain stand simplifies resin draining. You can find various designs on Thingiverse, including wall-mounted and tabletop versions. Cut the top off an old round resin bottle, sand the edges, and use it as a permanent drain bottle. Place a reusable filter on top of this bottle under the vat drain stand to filter and drain the resin efficiently.
• Handling Failed Prints: If a failed print or a pancake gets stuck to the FEP, drain the vat and gently press from the back of the FEP with a clean finger to detach it. This method is safe and effective, preventing damage to the FEP surface.
• Cleaning with Isopropyl Alcohol: For a deeper clean, use a spray bottle filled with isopropyl alcohol to clean the vat. If you are switching from an opaque resin to a clear resin, it is recommended to do a thorough clean with isopropyl alcohol to prevent any contamination. However, if you are switching between opaque resins, you usually do not need to clean with isopropyl alcohol unless desired. Spray the isopropyl to ensure the vat is free from residue without wiping the FEP directly. Use a paper towel carefully around the outside edge of the vat to remove any leftover resin.
